Joaquin Phoenix Slapped Vanessa Kirby on Napoleon Set
Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby told Empire magazine they made a pact to shock each other while filming Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” in order to ensure the film did not feel like a boring, overly-planned biopic. This agreement led Phoenix to slap Kirby during the filming of a heated divorce scene between their characters, Napoleon Bonaparte and Joséphine de Beauharnais, Empire reports.
“We were using the real words from their divorce in the church,” Kirby said.
John Boyega: I referenced my Yoruba dad's gestures in 'The Woman King' [Pulse Interview]
‘Black Panther’, had made its point to Hollywood and perhaps, smaller studios in Africa. With the spotlight now on us, we could finally tell our stories. I like to think that the Afrocentric movement of ‘Black Panther’ is why we have ‘The Woman King’, currently poised to rule the box office this September. The epic directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, is based on the historical all-female Agojie warriors of ancient Dahomey kingdom now known as Benin Republic.

Kentucky's Ice Storm Worse in Aftermath
Life has come to a standstill in Kentucky, and it’s difficult to imagine just who in the Bluegrass State had the more miserable Super Bowl weekend. For those half-million residents who were still without power Saturday night (and 200,000 who were also reported to be without water), this past weekend involved shuttling between one of the estimated 172 emergency shelters that have been operating across the state since Wednesday. For utility crews who worked overtime through the weekend — battling subzero conditions Friday and Saturday — the challenge was not just repairing a few downed lines, but instead rebuilding a ravaged utility infrastructure from the ground up.

Kyle Sandilands Hits Out at 'Bulls--t' Watchdog Ruling Against Him
Kyle Sandilands has taken aim at the media, management and the need to constantly say the right thing off the back of a ruling against him by the media watchdog.
At multiple points throughout this morning’s “Kyle and Jackie O Show” on ARN’s Kiis FM in Sydney, Sandilands made reference to censorship, sensitivity and being the only one to say what other people think.
His on-air frustration came after the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found a segment from 2021 about the Special Olympics and Paralympics included insensitive and disparaging comments that would have been offensive to athletes as well as the broader community.
M-M-My Mom Sharona: A Daughter Reflects on the Knack Hit as It Turns 40
“Ooh, my little pretty one, my pretty one… When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?”
And with that, the birth of the Knack‘s 1979 hit, “My Sharona,” which turned 40 this month. Nary a day goes by without hearing it on the radio. Certainly it’s almost always on my mind because Sharona Alperin, on whom the song is based, is my mother, which technically means that she’s my Sharona.
