This Movember—the annual November-long happening in which men grow mustaches and raise money for men’s health causes—we celebrate mustaches throughout history. Why you ask? For thousands of years, mustaches have been present at pivotal historical moments. Lanny McDonald’s mustache became a hockey icon. Tom Selleck’s mustache defined sexy for a generation. The mustache’s influence on our culture, our history and thus our future is irrefutable.
Natalie Portman to Lead HBO Film Days of Abandonment
Natalie Portman has signed on to lead the cast of the upcoming HBO Films production “The Days of Abandonment.”
The movie, which is currently in pre-production, is based on the Elena Ferrante novel of the same name.
Pakistan Sells Luxury Cars, Helicopters, Buffalo to Cut Cost
The sale of bulletproof luxury vehicles, helicopters and even eight buffalo drew hundreds of curious onlookers but few buyers to an “austerity-drive” auction held by the Pakistani government this week.
The auction, which was intended to earn as much as $16 million to help fill Pakistan’s coffers, netted just $600,000 on Monday, the BBC reports.
More than 100 used cars were on the auction block at the government’s heavily-publicized fire sale.

Everyone has seen people at the pool messing around and belly-flopping into the water. But Juan Guillermo Ríos, a professional diver from Colombia, took it to the next level with a botched dive off a 10-meter platform during the Diving World Series.
He and his partner were attempting a tandem reverse 3 1/2 somersault dive, the Huffington Post reports, when Ríos got out of sync and hit the water right on his back.
